STRUT
STRUT is a night time outdoor performance parade that takes over the streets and features 5 local dancers who take turns to perform their own 2 min choreographies reflecting the celebratory energy of their much loved neighbourhoods whilst moving behind a sound system with a light and projections show -a live video of the show is also streamed on YouTube .
We welcome dancers from “any age/ any style” to apply through a free-to-enter open call, and a community panel pick the 5 selected artists who each get a £750 fee to perform in the show.
“A working class area, turning off their TVs and tumbling out their flats and houses to see some dance. And some dance that was being performed by a group of their own. When it was freezing. As a community art piece, it was inspired and ultimately quite inspirational.” Fringe Review
STRUT was performed in 7 locations including: Glasgow (southside), Paisley (Seedhill), Cumbernauld, Craigmillar, Aberdeen, Inverclyde and West Dunbartonshire - and featured dance styles such as Bhangra, Salsa, Romani, Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, Northern Soul, Contemporary, Highland, Waacking, Happy Hardcore… and more.
We also have a STRUT “KIDS” version of the show tailored to take place in schools.
STRUT is produced by Feral and supported by Creative Scotland
in partnership with local organisations
